How do I configure my mail account in Apple Mail?




You can setup Apple Mail to receive mail from one of your mailboxes as follows:

From the top left menu within Apple Mail, go to Mail > Add Account...

On the next screen select "Add Other Mail Account..." and click continue.

On the next screen enter the following details:

Full Name: Your name as you would like recipients to see it
Email Address: The email address for the mailbox you want to setup
Password: The password for the mailbox

Click Create, then Next when the button appears.

On the next screen, leave IMAP selected at the top and enter the following settings:

Incoming Mail Server Info

Mail Server: mail.yourdomainname (Or the mail server host name/IP address)
User Name: The email address for the mailbox you want to setup
Password: The password for the mailbox (should already be filled in)

Click Next. (If you see a message saying the identity cannot be verified, just click Connect)

Outgoing Mail Server

SMTP Server: mail.yourdomainname (Or the mail server host name/IP address)
User Name: The email address for the mailbox you want to setup
Password: The password for the mailbox

Click Create (if you see a message saying the identity cannot be verified, just click Connect) and then click Next when the button appears.

Outgoing Mail Server Info

Port: Leave as is (it should say Auto in the field)*
Use SSL: Unchecked
Authentication: Password

Click Create and the window should close.

You will now the see account within your list of accounts and any messages on the server will begin downloading.
